Default Weird License Plate Lamp Electrical Issue

I'm working on a 2004 S60 with a weird short somewhere in the harness from the body of the car to the trunk lid. The license plate lamps are out, but sometimes they come on, but go off as the trunk lid is closed half way. I have problems with the power trunk switch as well. There are no signs of wear on the wire loom itself anywhere on the trunk or body. Does anyone have any clue where the problem lies? Thanks.

Usually in the trunk lid harness. I've never seen a problem anywhere else. Cut open the loom if you need to.

Yes, I would agree it seems to be the only logical explanation, however the rubber tubing the wires pass through is in such good shape and is so thick, I can't imagine how the wires could become compromised inside of it. Thanks for the input!

Yeah I understand. Open the trunk and wiggle it while watching the license plate lights, you'll probably see them flicker.

Default Problem Solved!

Thank you ES6T, the problem was with the trunk lid harness. I Replaced it with a new factory harness and the problem was solved. Thanks again!
