What is Normal amount of battery drain when car is off?
So i am troubleshooting a battery issue, and am curious what the normal drain is for a 2002 S60. With the trunk open and the car off I am seeing 4.5A being pulled, i have tried pulling fuses on the Siren, and Radio and no change, so I am curious if this is the normal amount of drain? thanks!
You can't properly check battery draw (drain) with any electrical circuit active. With the battery in trunk you will need to close the trunk latch with a screw driver or similar so that the system thinks that the trunk is closed.
so I am still trying to troubleshoot this, with the trunk open and checking amperage it was pulling 4.5 i pulled the RTI fuse, cant figure out what that does exactly but it drops to 1.5 or so with a few lights on, might be my culprit but triyng to understand what that is. anyone know?
so i had everything closed, and tricked the trunk into thinking it was shut, and i used my volt meter in series with the battery, and its still pulling .6 A, my battery read 11.98 V last night and this morning its 11.4 now. So still cant figure out whats drawing that much current.
next thing i am going to check is , i noticed the passenger door inside door handle no longer works, you can pull it and it kinda sticks, but it wont open the door anymore. I wonder if that is triggering something in the door mech? and pulling current?
Doubt it. While bad DDMs/PDMs are common to draw, the inner handle is purely mechanical. The door panel is likely broken where the cable clips in. Did the hazards flash when you locked the car before doing the draw test?
so when i left all the fuses in it was still drawing .600 A, when i pulled the LH door module fuse when the car would go into sleep mode, it would drop to .0020
I did try with the RH fuse pulled too, so i am trying to isolate when door, but it seems like possibly that is my issue???

still been trying to troubleshoot this, and just did the voltage test in the Haynes manual, and it says it should be between 13.5 and like 14.8, mine is 13.01 at idle and 13.50 when reved up, so looks like a voltage regulator on the alternator is the issue?
I keep trying to narrow down what in the heck is going on with this car, its driving me nuts! I am going to keep trying to eliminate things and figure out whats going on. i have pulled many fuses and at times i have seen the car go into a sleep mode and draw .002 amps, when i put my volt meter in series with the positive battery terminal.
