Default Window Blocks

Hello, I am new to this forum.

I bought a 2002 s60 in 2005. I have always liked Volvo's and for the most part, I love this car. It has about 62,000 miles and I have gotten all of the required services, and just about everying (minus inspection and tires) done at the dealership. My warranty is up at the end of January.

I have had only two problems with this car, which are giving me major headaches. First was my locking system. Much like what was explained on here in other threads, my locks and alarm seem to have a mind of their own. The last time I had them fixed was early September, so far so good.

The major problem is my passenger side window block. So far in the two years I have had the car it has been replaced 5 times. When it is warm and humid outside my passenger front window squeaks really loud and about a half inch of the window does not go completely down. The window block was replaced in July, and again replaced in September. In sept. I picked my car up from the shop on a saturday, and on that next monday the windows were back to squeaking...since it was not warm/humid outside, the dealership could not duplicate the problem, and it could not be fixed (the story of my life).

Since my car is still under warranty I did not have to pay for this, but I am getting worried for this problem when the warranty ends. (As a sidenote, my drivers window block was replaced in July as well). Is this a problem commonly seen in s60's? I love this car, but I really don't want to be dropping money on window blocks every few months. Thanks in advance!

Usually a good Dab of a good grease will make them stop squeeking.

Yep I think your shop is replacing them when really they should be lubricating them.

Don't discount the swipe moldings. Replacement under warranty in not uncommon, at least from my experience.

Sometimes cleaning the glass really good and even using some wax or rainX helps too.

You have to remove the door panel to gain access.
They are Blue or green square blocks or round wheel looking things.
I have had the best luck using a silicon based grease.

The blocks are inside the door frame and behind the moisture barrier. They are blue or green and are the bushings that attache the door regulator to the window and slide in tracks.

Greasing them keeps them from breaking also, which is a nasty problem that can lead to expensive window or regulator replacement. The blocks are 6 bucks each from a dealer... so if you are being charged a lot for them... I have to wonder about your shop.

Good luck.

Default Scissor arm

Hi all,

I have a 98 V70 T5 which has been in the family since new. This car has been royal and very reliable...and this is. Unfortunately a soccer mom struck the r/f door and fender. I replaced the fender, but the door was damaged along with the scissor arm. The window rises almost to the top, but the remaining two inches the window shifts right and doesn't close properly. I have the door apart, but I can't figure how to remove the metal assembly holding the window motor from the door. Are there any photos of how the scissors are suppose to look like?
If I can't fix, it is there a repair shop in Bay Area that can fix it, local body shops don't want to touch it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you may want to have a look at the inner horizontal window black trim. i had this trim bent and pressing against the window. i removed the door panel to get access, removed the black trim then cut off the bent portion. no more squeaks.
