i bought a 1998 volvo s70 glt with 140k for only $710. the car needs just a little tlc and brake change. the current color of the car is dark cherry. im thinking to paint the car black, get a costume black grill (dont remember the name now), get smocked tail lights, put some costume headlights and maybe put some black rims on it. tell me wat u guys think??????

If the grill is in decent shape try painting it black. I did it with mine (also on a black car) and love how it looks.

Quick cleaning with soap and water, rub down with 600 grit wet sandpaper, multiple coats of satin black spray paint and you're done for under $10. Sure beats $100 for a grill from ipd.

I took the "slash" and volvo logo off for painting and then put them back on after.

im thinking of driving the car to a professional car painter and letting him do his thing. so that if he messes up, he going to have paint it till he gets it right.

and about the gill, it already comes in black color, its black mesh style grille

How did you find a running S70 GLT for under $1k??? That is the deal of the day!

The best thing to do is protect your investment and make sure the timing belt has been replaced within the past 5 years or 50k. If not, do that 1st. Get the car running right, have the mounts replaced if they need to be, then work on cosmetics. Do it SMART.

i took the stock chrome grill and painted it black instead of buying an aftermarket one. unless the grill thats on there is already black...

I bought the ipd black mesh grille and love it! I would go with that look over the look of repainting the OEM grille if you don't mind spending the money.

Depends on the quality paint job and also how much stuff you want to take off for the paint! A nice quality job would run 2-3k, Unless you know someone. with a bodyshop!

Where in Washington are you? IPD is in Portland and might be worth a trip down.

They have an annual "Garage Sale" with a car show and a lot of stuff super cheap thats coming up; Saturday, March 16th I believe, seems like a good time.

If you think you will keep the car for more than 3 years get a good paint job. If not, go to MACCO. So, you will spend around $900 or $2,000.
