Post 1998 S70 - Stalling while running

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum, been a proud owner of a nice 1998 s70 (non-turbo) for almost 4 years now, works like a charm, normal usage replacement other then that, not much to complain, but.....this is why I'm hear

While i was driving, after i'd say 10 minutes maybe, radio shut off, then the heating, car didn't stale but wasn't taking gaz effectively. Then it got worst and while i found a parking place it was "bucking" and i eventually turned it off. Tried restarting but nothing, not even hearing the motor trying to turn or the starter itself. To be this sounded like an alternator issue, got the car towed to a new mechanic (i moved recently). When i got there, they tested the starter since it wasn't turning any more, saw power going to it but nothing. Tried the typical hit on the started to help it turn but nothing. So, i ended up replacing the starter and car started fine, nothing weird going on. I've got my car today, garage to my place is like 4 minutes away so I'm not reassured that this was the only problem???

so my questions are:

- can a defective started cause my symptoms?
- Do you guys still think i have or will eventually have another issue with/caused by the alternator?
- Can a defective alternator break/burn/rendering the started defective?

i know it sounds strange, why i'm writing this post. I could have bet a lot of money that it was my Alternator (given all the symptoms) this is why i'm still skeptic.

thanks in advance for you replies.

If the car is running / driving fine do not worry about it. Don't warry about what does not have a problem. Simple life strategy.

Ck the alternator output and make sure your charging light on the instrument cluster is working.

Thats not the end of it my friend..... The starter in my opinion does not cause the problems you speak of... The battery and subsequently the alternator output needs to be checked..... So load check the battery and check the amps coming out of the alternator... Should be about 14 amps

and the battery cables. Corroded cables can reduce power output from the battery.
