Default 1999 Volvo S70 Needs New Radiator, Which do I Buy? Vent pipe?

hey guys, my moms radiator is leaking on her 1999 Volvo S70. On Ebay the radiators are very affordable at around 60 dollars but some come with vent pipes and some do not. can you guys please help me figure out the exact radiator i need for my moms car? the local shop wants 800 bucks to replace the radiator which is an insane price imo! i would like to buy a new radiator online but i dont know the exact one i need, when i type in "1999 volvo s70 radiator" i get results with vent pipes and some without vent pipes, all saying there compatible with my car. i can provide any information you guys might need to help me identify the correct radiator! thank you!

Have you looked on Rockauto.com? There are different radiators depending on if the car is a 2.3L turbo engine or a 2.4L standard engine. My best suggestion is look closely at the radiator that is in the car now and see if it has a vent pipe or not and then order the appropriate replacement. At the very least you can compare what is in the car now with pictures on the rockauto website and that should give you some idea. Are you going to replace it yourself, or are you just ordering the part and having a shop put it in. Many times shops will not warranty their work unless they supply the parts as well. Food for thought.

Good luck!

you didn't mention which engine your S70 has - ie turbo or NA. What I like to do is use a dealer web site like Tasca Parts or others to find the Volvo part number and to see if there are any "breaks" by serial number for that model. Say you have a naturally aspirated (NA = non-turbo) with an automatic. I see part # 8603767 listed and when I drop that into Rock Auto it shows Nissens 65548A for $98. (Nissens btw is one of Volvo's OEM suppliers, so I'd pay the extra $20 for getting the better quality given all the labor involved).

thanks for the response guys. theres 3 styles of radiator for the 1999 volvo s70 so the only way i could get the correct radiator was taking it to a local craiglist mechanic, he took my radiator out and we order the correct one. i needed the radiator that has a vent pipe and female oil fittings. i wanted to order it before hand on ebay and have him install it to save money but we couldn't do that because i didnt know which of the 3 radiators was correct. the exact radiator i need is only 60 dollars total on ebay but we had to buy it from the auto parts store for 240! i love buying auto parts online instead of the store! thanks anyways guys!
