Default 2000 S70 glt starting problems

I started having problems last fall, the car would start and die right away, or sometimes not at all or sometimes it started just fine, so I replaced the fuel pump relay, no more problems, untill last week, started to do the same thing so I got a new relay and still have the problem, could I have got a bad relay? Got it from napa, it was made in china.

Yes. Not sure where they are made now. Order one from ipd or fcp.

I changed out the relay, actually tried 3 differant ones and still having intermittent problems, I think I have a loose connection in the socket the relay fits in, I put in the relay from FCP(made in germany) and had problems, took the relay out, replaced it, put my finger under the socket and pushed the contacts up and it now starts perfect.

I seriously doubt that. You have some other issue. Have you checked fuel pressure? It's time to do some real trouble shooting.

1st, check for codes, even if you do NOT have a cel.
2nd, unplug the MAF and see if the car starts and idles. It may not run smooth but it should start and run.
3rd, check fuel pressure to make sure your pump is not going out.

checked for codes, none, going to get my fuel pressure gage back from my son in law this weekend and will check pressure. Will the adapter for a ford fit my volvo? Why check the maf sensor?

MAF sensors are known to cause starting issues.

Intermittant problems really stink. My guess is that your fuel pump is going out. There is another chance that your CPS is going bad. Have your fuel pump checked, pressure.

Oh, have you had your ETM changed or is it original?

How long have you had it? Do a search ETM and see what people say about the label. I think a white label is the original one and a yellow label means it has been replaced. Please search the forum first and figure it out. Those things cause problems.

You'll have to search ETM in the S70 and V70 sections. You'll find it.

There is still a difference with the color of the sticker. One color is the original sticker, the other color is the replacement sticker color. Did you do a search?

do you mean a different color of yellow? the yellow shows up on the replacements shown at sellers like FCP and groton.
