ok, tried to start it up with fuel pressure gauge attached to see if it was pressurized when it did not start. finnally after the 5th try the car would not start, but it still had fuel pressure. so it seems the fuel system is ok, what about the main relay in the other fuse box? could it be going bad?

First of all the white label ETM is the original and the yellow label is the remanufactured one. There is a date code that will tell you the year and month of manufacturer on the yellow label. I think your problem might be related to a bad antenna on the ignition switch. Does the car start and then die immediately?

I have been having the same problem for 6 months now.
The engine won't turn over sometimes. Sometimes it will turn over, but it will die soon after. Before it would be fine after the third try, but a few days ago, it just wouldn't turn on. I let it sit for 20 minutes or so and the engine finally turns over. I was told that it was a battery issue so I replaced the battery, but it has continued to be a problem.
Other issues that my car is having which may or may not be contributing to this issue is that the cigarette lighter socket has fallen through the console, the gas tank cap doesn't seem to be closed all the way when I go to put in more gas and MOST IMPORTANTLY, the accordion part of this tube in the following picture came apart.
Please let me know if you have any thoughts on the matter!

Old cars (cars older than 10 years old) have many issues.
The gas cap will not stop the car from starting. The ECU vent tube will NOT effect the car's ability to start.
Here is a link that may help. I have had issues with my battery cable being corroded between the connectors that caused the car to NOT crank.
