Default 2000 V70 starts and then shuts right off

Hey folks,
I just put $4300.00 into my beautiful 2000 v70 and on my way home the check engine light came back on (do they ever stay off longer than 10 min.)most of the work was done on the front end at a reputable repair shop up here in Portland Maine. The car runs beautiful it has 187.000 miles on it and has been well cared for, but this new problem has got me baffled and I can't afford to keep going to the repair shop. It's done this a couple of times now where its running great and we'll go into the store come out and no go. It starts and shuts right off. I'll come back the next day and it starts right up very aggravating and unreliable to say the least....Any ideas
Thanks

Mosty every chain auto parts place and sometimes the smaller ones will run the codes for you for free

Interesting. I went and they hooked up and pulled the codes no problem. They could not tell me what they meant. they do it free so you will buy the parts you need while you are there. You can spend as little as $20 for a tester that will read codes and clear codes. Actorn makes good testers. Don't know about other brands. I think its almost a must have for a diy'er

I guess the guys I dealt with were just idiots. I'll have to try again somewhere else, I'm looking in to a good tester you say actorn is a good one it can deal with all of the codes? Thanks for the info

Its a function of how much you want to spend. If you want something that reads ABS and CAN-BUS and all the other systems you can spend 300-$500. If all you want to know is engine codes $20-$50 works. I've used the Actron before. Simple to use and I think the $60 model give real time running info - but don't quote me on that.

Good luck with it

I would have replaced the battery first, as it can cause all of these issues at random. Also the ground straps as mentioned.
