2000 Volvo S70
I have a 2000 S70 and the car just won't click on. The ETS warning light comes on while the car is trying to turn over. There is also a smell of fuel when we've tried this several times. Please help!
1. Welcome to the forum.
2. Your car isn't starting right? Are there any other idiot lights that come on the dash besides the ETS light?
3. Now onto the ETS issue. This is a known problem. Have you had the software update done or do you know if it has been done to this car before you purcahsed it? Also has the actual ETM (Electronic Throttle Module) been replaced? ETS = Electronic Throttle System. Also does the light stay on or come on and go back off asfter a few seconds or a minute or two?

Ok so the light stays on I am not sure if it has been replaced or if there was an upgrade done to it. Initially we thought it had to do with the temperature sensor since that wasn't working we figured it had an effect on the start of the engine. How do we go about finding out if it was upgraded or replaced?
1) How long have you had the car?
2) There has been a national recall for upgrades to the ETM on Volvos. The ETS and Mass Air sensor have been known to go out. Have a diagnosis done to the car in the OBDII conection. You can go to AutoZone and have that done for free. Pull the codes and you should be able to find the problem.
