I was wondering if there is anyone with knowledge of if its possible to swap engine from basic s70 year 2000, to a 1998 s70 turbo t5.

what i really want to find out is if the whole body and engine compartment and electrical mountings are same on the s70 from 98-00 years.

a short story about why i ask this:
i am driving a 2000 s70 2.4 5 speed transmission. it has 96000 miles on it and a brand new transmission, but my car is salvage title had two big accidents, which means if i get into an accident right now, i would not get paid for from Insurance.
But i found a great deal on internet, its 98 s70 turbo with t5 engine, clean title clean of accidents but a blown engine.

So again, i want to know if i could take my engine with tranny and all wires and computers and swap it.

DOES THIS SOUND REAL?!

 

I think it would be to much work to do that.
The 2000 wiring and stuff is alot different. The ECU is married to the Vin number of the car.

It can be done but it might not be worth your time to do it.

 

whats wrong with the t5 engine ?

is it completely hopeless to attempt to repair that one?
