98 s70 OBD codes will not reset
Took the car for Arizona emissions test told obd had not finished cycle, this after driving the car 500 miles, no check engine light on, first three icons are on solid everything else is flashing, pulling neg terminal , or clearing codes with OBD tester makes no difference, would appreciate suggestions.
you may need a better code reader or access to a VIDA. My understanding is the OBD cycle is about 300 miles so my thought is there's another code not related to emissions that's stuck. Either that or the AZ tester didn't follow the correct procedure when checking for codes. Do you have state run garages or is it licensed to shops including dealers (that's our set up in CT)? If you can get a dealer to do the emissions they should tell you what codes failed w/o charging a diagnostic fee.
A shop wanted $300 to reset the codes, went to google, OBD2 emission and readiness check, a PDF, this gave me the correct drive cycle to follow, followed directions and problem was resolved, Az emission test is the State plugs into the OBD outlet on the car and if only two of the icons have not reset, you pass. Thank you for your timely answer.
In this case the car is not neccesarily running bad, only until all the tests are run and completed there is no way of knowing if there is a problem, hence fail the Az emissions test.
