Default Another question from a new guy?

I have been looking over the site. Great help. Here is my question. My 98 S70 T5 with manual transamission will be here in a few days. Has 86k. Will be having the timing belt replaced, but what else at that time? I've heard the water pump (any idea of cost), and then Ive seen stuff about the timing belt (manual tensioners, etc... that may need to be replaced? Honestly, I am useless at mechanical things. Fortunately I married a woman that is great at this stuff. She is like Marissa Tormei in My Cousin Vinny, except she is a blonde and much better looking. She can flat out do anything on cars. Anyway, got sidetracked for a moment. Any comments would be highly valued. Can't wait to get my car, just want to make sure I have her running good for a long time.

Thanks.

Default RE: Another question from a new guy?

on another volvo forum, they call this the stage 0

Plugs
cap/rotor
oil/transflush
filter (oil)
hoses (the little vac lines)
samco hose kit
02 sensors
fuel pumps
clean injectors
clean IC/IC plumbing
Air filter
plug wires

so i figure that all this stuff would benifit you by changing... it does add up to a lot of money though, so change what you want i guess... when i get my volvo (hopefully soon) i'm gonna change everything so i know that it is all good parts

Do the tensioner and idler pulley for the timing belt.
Also if it looks like the water pump is weaping at all replace it.
02 sensors
fuel pumps (These you can do without.)

If the o2 sensor is bad it will set codes.
Fuel pump usually lasts alot longer.

tensioner and idler pulley. How much extra for this work? Not that I won't do it, just want to ensure I'm getting the right price. Thanks.

If a shop is doing it shouldn't be anymore labor but maybe close to $100.00 for parts.

Not 100% sure on price. I fix them and not really on the prices end of it.
