I have heard of this happening when the brake fluid gets old and needs replaced or you may have air in the brake lines. Personally I have never changed my brake fluid in any car I have ever owned so I'm not sure if that's the answer or not. I guess I'm really not being much help. Hopefully Tech will respond with an idea.
