I have a '99 S-70 that he A/C will just quit working in the summer. If you turn it off and back on in 1-2 minutes it will may work for as long as a week or more before it happens again. More importantly this time of year the defroster just quits and the windshield fogs up immediately... not good. I have already changed the evaporator, checked the compressor and fuses and recharged the system. Any ideas what else may be causing this?

Yes, but it appears to cycle normally.

Check the clutch gap. They wear and sometimes release when they get hot.

 

How do I do that?

 

You take a feeler gauge and check the gap between the outer part of the compressor and the pulley. The post what the gap is.
