Default Can I keep the original stereo head unit while adding a subwoofer? 2000 S70 AWD.

I have a Kicker amp and Kicker Comp subwoofer. I was wondering if I could keep the original head unit in, disconnect the shelf speakers, swap the amp, and add the subwoofer. And also, How do I do this? If someone could help I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!!
