clunk when brake
My 2000 S70 XC with 118k makes a loud clunk from the rear when I apply the brakes. Also, there is a whistling or whining noise while driving. I just had the tires rotated prior to this. Traveled 200 miles on highway, with no problem. Braking issue started after that while driving around town. I am away from my hometown and mechanic. Looking for a mechanic in a strange town and some advice. Thanks!

I will bet it is an issue with the driveshaft from the angle gear to the rear of the car.
If you can get under it try rocking the driveshaft back and forth and see if it makes noise.
The driveshafts commonly go bad. You might also have to jack it up in the rear to feel the slop in the driveshaft.
