tyre pressure
what tyre pressure is everyone set to on the stock alloy with 195/60R15 88V?
I was on
32psi- front
back i had them on 32pis but the petrol cap says they should be on:
32 - front
29 - front driver
36 - back
is that a bit too high?? 36psi at the back?
so i was just wondering what everyone has their's on
thanks

RE: tyre pressure
I have all 4 of my tires set to 40psi for better gas mileage. I don't drive super fast so uneven tirewear isn't an issue as much. The max sidewall pressure is safe unless your tires are showing alot of wear. Mine say max 44 but I stay a bit lower because they're showing some signs of age. I know a few others here are running high tire pressure as well, but its a known fact that higher pressure equals better mileage.

RE: tyre pressure
That's exactly what i'm running, 38 all around. I don't see no problem to lower it back if you stay within specs.
Just note that the higher the pressure, the better the fuel economy and the firmer will be the suspension. Tires absorb a lot of the bumps... Make shure you don't go over the max pressure written on your tire wall.

RE: tyre pressure
Hey now,
I have, probally because of bad habits[sm=nono.gif] picked up over the years, thought that 32-35psi was the norm and that anything higher was a bad idea due to preasure increasing when driving and I was always concerned about reaching the max preasure and having problems with poor wear.
But by reading the postings here a range of 35-40psi would seem to be better even if the ride is a little more firm.
I have just had a serious amount of work done to the car, including new suspension, brakes and winter tires which haven't seen any snow due to the car being in the shop since last Nov, [sm=headbang.gif] don't ask, and I'm waitingfor the starter replacement(Feb. 04-08) and will check the preasures to see where they are and adjust accordingly.
I'll post the total fuel economy/milage after the second full tank is used to get a fair idea as to whether or not my milage is better. I was getting better than 630km per tank before the exhaust gasket failure [sm=smiley20.gif], 450km after[sm=smiley21.gif] and then the water pump bearing failure[sm=outcold.gif] which is why the car has been in the shop. Replacement engines aren't cheap or easy to find with low km's.
