Door Lock

Door Lock
I just replaced the door latch mechanism and cable on the front drivers side door. Everything works except opening the door with the key. I can lock/unlock the door with the manual button, the remote, and the switch on the drivers door. All of the other door locks work fine as well.
I checked and both of the connectors to the unit are properly attached.
Did I just get a bad replacement from the factory? or could I have damaged the lock when I swapped it out? Anyone else run into this failure mode previously?
(and yes, I can still swap in the old one, but it's 7 degrees outside...)
Any ideas?
Thanks.

RE: Door Lock
On the side of the door by the door jam there is a little rubber plug. Pull the plug and make sure the rod from the lock cylinder is going into the lock assembly.
You might have to loosen the lock assembly to get the rod in.
You will also have to loosen the drivers outside door handle to pull it out some to work the rod into the lock assembly. It is a pita but you might want wait till it warms up a little.
Pray you didn't break the rod.

RE: Door Lock
Finally got around to fixing the lock. Found that I did break the rod when removing the latch. Not good. Pulled a lock cylinder with rod out of dead S70 at the boneyard for $5. Found that it was possible to remove the rod from salvaged cylinder and replace the original broken one. There is one lock washer that holds the rod to the cylinder. Doing this allowed use of the original keys. Dropped it in this AM and everything is finally back to normal. Thanks for the information-pointed me in the exactly the right direction.
