electrical buzz from heater/ac control panel
hi
recently i have been getting a hum/buzz from the heating control panel when i start the car. It only lasts a second or two and when the noise stops, the control indicating lights light up. everything seems to work fine but it is a new noise that was never present before
anyone with an idea of what it might be?

RE: electrical buzz from heater/ac control panel
Listen closely and see if it does it when you turn the car off as well.
If so look for the little vent looking thing in the dash. It is small it is called an in car temp sensor. It is like a small fan that runs when the key is turned on. They get a lot of dust in them and start to make noise. Try to blow it out and you should be fine.

RE: electrical buzz from heater/ac control panel
Hi Tech,
Thanks for the response. I will do as you suggested. I have looked for that vent in the past because I also get a high pitch whistle when the temperature control kicks on and off(only when AC is on) and is quite noticeable when I turn the car off I had read in an earlier post that this was due to a restriction in that vent line. This is a much lower tone noise and I have not noticed it when I have turned the car off. I am almost positive it is electrical but I won't rule out anything. I'll let you know what I find. One other bit of info. The control lights (outside air or recirc and AC on or off) don't light until the buzz goes away.
Thanks for your help

The whistle noise that you have is most likely a bad Orface tube. They will tear a little and then whistle when it goes on and off.
The buzzing im not reall sure about without seeing it.
If you have the ECC then you can remove the module and see if it is the module itself making the noise. Remove the radio and then reach in and push out the module from the backside.
