1999 S70 AWD
I replced my ETM under new Volvo warranty. However since then I drived 60,000 (km) and used only regular gas, I know I am not supposed to, but it is very expensive. Last week the ETM light start to come on again.
I wonder if the regular gas cause this issue. If I clean the unit, will it help?
Since last week I switch to higher octan (91) and I notice the light does come on as ferequent as it used to.

ETM = Electronic Throttle Module (Actuall throttle body of the car.)
ETS = Electronic Throttle System (This is the idiot light that comes on, on the dash.)

Ok when did you have the ETM replaced at what mileage? (60,000 km (Driven since the ETM replacement) = 37,282.2715342 miles)

1. Have you had the new software installed?

2. Is the ETS idiot light coming on and staying on or coming on and going off shortly there after?

3. Yes it can be cleaned and this should be one of the first things you should have done. Then go from there.

 

To be exact, I've drived about 80K (Km) after replcing the new ETM. I am sure the dealer upgare the software before the change out. Do I need to reload / upgarde the software after the change out too?

 

oh I forgot something, The light comes on and stay on as long as the engine is running. when you restart the car it goes away.
