Head Gasket Change - Turbo Also?
Thanks for all of your posts in advance.
I'm replacing the Head Gasket on my 98' S70 (Turbo). While i have the head off and easy access to the Turbo, should i take it somewhere and have some work done to it? I wouldn't even know what "work to it" means, but i see posts about how Turbo Problems present themselves the same way Head Gasket Problems do. I would just hate to do all this work to the Head and put it all back together and the car still not be fixed.
Also what other work would everyone recommend while i have everything apart. I have read so many different posts and people always recommend different things. I do plan on keeping the car as it is paid for. It has 150K Miles on it. And as far as work done in the past--i have no idea, i just bought it off the internet 4 months ago.

OK JF19, went back and found your original post here.
So do you have much experience rebuilding engines? You saw your oil had turned into milkshake and just assumed the head gasket failed? Like Ed7 said, I would have pressure tested the cooling system before tearing it down! That way you would have know exactly where to look for a failure; now you have to guess.
Keep in mind it may not be the head gasket; you have a cracked head (no, the one on your car.. ) as well. So have your machinist also pressure test the water jackets on your head while it's in there being resurfaced.
In your other post you mentioned the milky substance in your coolant reservoir; have you ckd the auto trans oil for coolant on the dipstick? I.e. don't rule out the radiator failing either...
Good luck!
