Quick Vaccum Line Question

Quick Vaccum Line Question
So I have a 1998 S70 non-turbo, and I found a loose vaccum line, and I have no idea where its other end needs to go.
It was the line connected to the upper connection on the air filter, and it is about 10 inches long. I just bought the car, and so have no idea where the other end needs to connect. Could some good Samaritan check it out on their own car, and get back to me?

Here are two pictures I took. I circled the place where one end connects.
The other end is the one I am confused about. The vacuum diagram was of no help to me, as I am fairly new to car repair, and have no idea what the things are called. Sorry. It would really be the most helpful if someone would just pop their hood, find the line, and photograph whatever it connects to.

I think I got it figured out. That line was supposed to go to the valve that controls hot or cold air going into the intake.
I simply removed the metal pipe connecting the airbox to the exhaust system, and plugged the hole in the airbox. Now I should be getting only cold air into my engine, and hopefully life will be good.
Anyone see any problems with this? The coldest I will be starting this car in will be the single digits.
