Default Heater Fan or Resistor

I have a 2000 V70XC SE and when I turn on the Auto Climate Control (or turn on the fan manually) the fan runs for around one second then quits and the AC and Fan lights start blinking red. How do I tell if it is the fan motor or the fan resistor? How do I get the under-glove box tray out without breaking something? How do I get the fan out? How do I get the resistor out? Thanks!

Default RE: Heater Fan or Resistor

It may be neither. I have exactly the same symptoms on my 99 S70 T5 (although it has been sporadic). My Indie Volvo tech says it's probably the cabin temperature sensor going bad. He told me to squirt it with some canned air to blow possible accumulated dust off the sensor. This worked a couple of times but has no affect now. Next time I get the car in I'm having him replace the sensor. I'll let you know if that fixes the problem.
