Hood Latch
I have a 1998 Volvo S70. When I pull the hood latch only the right side comes up . The left side (drivers side) won't release. Is there anything that I can do to get it to release othere than trying to force it. I trying to change my oil and it's hard to do with only one side of the hood releasing. Also, my AC keeps going to the defrost vent without me sending it there. Does anyone know what's up with that? Thanks
yeah my hood does the same thing. Basically I pull the hood latch, then I go to teh front of the car, and pull teh hood up(only aliitle bit), then go back and pull the hood release latch again, go back to the front and I open the hood. Kind annoying, but its not worth the money to fix it since I am not under my hood enough.
Eh, it's a losing battle. Adjustments will typically only be a temporary bandaid. I've tried adjusting the latches, tightening the cable under the driver's side dash and eventually, you'll eithe rhave to have someone lightly lift on the drivers side of the hood or do what I do which is fold a rag in half and wedge it up between the hood and the top of the headlamp. Basically, you need just enouhg pressure lifting up on the hood by that latch to pop it lose and the rag trick works.
There were a few S70 and 850 guys at the south east volvo weekend all employing the rag trick.
