Recently picked up a 98 S70 and unfortunately have some problems with it. The car passed inspection and the dealer isn't sure why this is happening. Iwas wondering if anyone else has gone through similar stuff...here are the symptoms:

1. Parking lights are out
2. Tail lights are out
3. All instrument lights are out, except when I turn the hazzard lights on: when the hazard lights are on, the instrument lights flash in conjunction with the hazard lights. Also, when the hazard lights are flashing, the dimmer button works, as it dims the flashing instrument lights.

Other interior lights work (window controls, reading lights, etc.). The turn signal lights work, as do the warning lightsat the bottom left and right of the dashboard. The "blub failure" warning light comes on periodically, sometimes for a long time, other times for only a few minutes. Fuses seem to be fine. If anyone has advice on how to fix or has gone through a similar problem please let me know. Thanks.

 

Maybe the speedo cluster is bad.
Are you charging good from the Alt.

 

Thanks for the response. Upon further inspection, turns out the previous owner removed an alarm system and whoever did the wiring didn't do a very good job putting everything back together. A couple of hard bumps jarred everything lose, causing things to short circuit and blow out. Bottom line:replaced thepoor wiring,replaced the blubs and everything works fine.
