Default LOCK CYLINDER ON STEERIGN COL

The car: 2000, S70 automatic, 4 doorws, 4 tires yada yada.............
The lock cylinder and key assembly are giving me some problems. the key goes in but it is difficult to turn to statr the car. Only after trying to move the key about 5 time does it finally allow me to start the car.
I have removed the upper and lower plastic cowling and found nothing, infact i can not locate teh head of the bolt securing the assembly to the steering col.

A few questions
[ol][*]DOES A NEW SET OF KEYS COME WITH THE Lock Cyl Kit?[*]HOW DOES ONE PROGRAM THE KEYS SO THEY ARE RECOGNISED? [*]HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE ASSAMBLY OFF THE STEERING COL? [/ol]

Thanks, Pete

You have to drill and easy out the screws. They are break off screws. Which means when they reach a certain torque spec the head breaks off.
Some of them I have gotten lucky and used a sharp center punch and tapped them loose by unscrewing it with the punch.

It will come with a key you can't use. You have to order it by your vin # and it will come matching your keys and you use your keys you already have.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I just ordersd the ignition key lock assembly.
When I was into it yesterday, I noticed a brass looking cover plate belowthe cylinder side of the assembly. Does this need to be removed to access the screws you mentioned?
Are they cap screws, phillips or torx screws?
And do you drill out from above or below the collumn?

Thanks.

You will drill from the top. you should see 2 holes where there is screws. The top half and bottom half meet there. The screws hold them together.
