Lost power after timing belt replacement
Replaced timing belt on 98 s70 with mechanical tensioner, cam marks are at 3 and 9 at top dead, cant locate mark on crank, looking for any help on lost power. there was a diagram of what marks should be, unable to locate it again

Did you take the outer serp. pulley off doing the job?
|
The mark can be REAL hard to see especially if you dont pull the serpentine pulley. If you remove the starter motor there is a plug behind it in the block. Pull the plug, insert a 6" long 3/8" ratchet extension into the hole, then turn the motor gently counter clockwise until it hits the stop. That's your mark.

I did remove the serp pulley, I even redid the entire procedure yesterday to ensure car is in time. After 720 degrees of rotation the marks still line up perfectly. engine code of p0116 for faulty coolant temp reading was pulled yesterday as well. dont know if that could add to problem. Car is really sluggish with hard shifts...

The ECT code can be making it run crappy.

replaced thermastat and car seems to run a bit better, atleast we have heat again. I have cam pulleys set to center of holes, any benefit of adding or retarding any time through this adjustment. have read different opinions on advancing time on exhaust side.
