Default New to volvos whats sup with the ac????

Hello all. Not new to the forum just new to volvos.. Not sure whey but i bought one. Picked it up for a good price. Anyway 2000 s70 auto.. I was tring to get the ac to go off when im in the car. I read the manual and it say that volvo recomends the use of ac all times. Since gas is almost 4 bucks, thats not going to happen. How do i get the switch to stay in the off position while still getting the blower to blow the outside air??? I can get it off when i turn everything off but that defeats the purpose..

My ac has a switch, I just turn mine off. Post a pic. Most of these cars have a ac switch far right.

How to you know that it does't cut the ac off? If you have the other control to defrost, the ac will always be on.

I had to replace the entire AC control unit on my 850 when it started blowing on high no matter where the switch was, and the temp. dials didn't affect the temperature at all. But the AC wasn't stuck on.

I know this isn't your problem, but still. Check ebay for replacement heads if it comes to it. An independent tried to charge me $100 for a control unit from a scrap car. But you can usually find them for around $40 on ebay.

Hope you get it fixed!
