Default Odometer over-counting miles

Anyone every had their odometer over-count miles? I recently took my 99 S70 T5 for a quick test drive. Drove no more than 3/4 of a mile but the trip odometer and the regular odometer both gained about 5 miles.

A little more background info:
It had been having problems: Classic etm symptoms plus dead instrument cluster. See my earlier post: https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...trouble-50763/

I was about to order a new cluster off ebay. I went out to start it but it had a dead battery. It took a jump and magically the gauges came back. So I decided to take it for the test drive I mentioned. Warning lights this time were the CEL and flashing arrow.

Any thoughts?

FYI - I did have my ABS rebuilt a few years ago, if that matters.

Default Update: More info

I looked at the car some more last night and learned a few things, but I'm still at a loss, anything anyone can offer will be appreciated.

New Info:
- Disconnecting the neg term of the battery will bring the gauges back, but it must be disconnected for more than a few seconds.
- When gauges are back, flashing arrow appears the moment the car starts, CEL appears a little later.
- When gauges are back so is the turbo.
- Multiple starts/ jiggling the key had the gauges go out, key jiggle may be coincidence, couldn’t repeat it.
- With the gauges working I drove 10 miles to get codes read. The odomenter appeared to be working correctly. The last 1/8 mile, speedo locked at 55, tach locked at 1500 rpm, stayed that way even when car turned off and key removed. Reset only when codes cleared. Codes read this time= P0722 – P1618 – P1630
- When codes cleared, dead gauges came back, with ETS and CEL – same 4 codes I had before – 1630, 1631, 1633, 0121.

* Dead gauges = all needles dead, idiots lights work, odometer is blank, cluster is backlit.

My questions:
1. Do you think any of these issues could reside in the cluster itself? IE: Would it be worth it to swap the clusters? I already ordered & paid for a cluster from a an identical 99 T5.

2. I've heard some of these problems could be speed sensor related. Do you think any of this could be related to the ABS module? Especially the new codes P0722 & P1618.
