Default Passenger Backrest Issue

Hey guys, another not so important problem, but yet, an annoying one that I would like to get fixed.

It seems my passenger seats backrest has stopped working correctly. The seat still moves forward and backward as it should, and the backrest still reclines backward. However, when I try to return the backrest to its normal upright position, nothing happens, it just stays reclined. It used to do this, but all I would do is mess with the cables underneath the seat and it would work again. However, this time, I did that and still nothing. I get the feeling it is a bad backrest cable that needs to be replaced. But then again, it could just be dirty or faulty connections, or a bad motor perhaps. [&:]

Anyone have any ideas for how to fix this? Thanks!

Oh and PS: The entire driver seat works just fine.

Sounds like the switch might be bad.

A bad switch sounds like a good guess actually. I had thought that maybe there was a bad connection in which the signal to recline was going through, but the signal to return was not. Either way, I'm planning to take it over to the dealer next week and see what they think. I would like to attempt this job myself, but to be honest, I am somewhat scared that I will make it worse than it is now, heh. Any guesses on how much I will need to spend for parts?

The switch is pretty expensive from that I remember.

It is not all that bad to replace either.

I cant seem to find the part online, partly because I dont know its official name. Do you know of a site where they sell such items or related?

UPDATE:

This morning I had to drop off my cousin at school, and I thought that maybe it would just start working today, so I tried the switch and still nothing. Then, I remembered reading a post elsewhere on this forum where such a problem would present due to a stretched cable inside the seat, so I tried messing with the cable that is exposed near the controls on the back where the the bottom meets the backrest of the seat near the seat belt. I pulled up on the cable slightly, and sure enough, it works. My guess is it was a loose cable that came undone while cleaning the leather. Needless to say, I saved myself more than just a few bucks.

... Mystery of life.

Thanks anyways for the advice tech, I appreciate it as always.
