Default Power door locks

Can anyone tell me why the power locks on my 98 s70 don't operate my rear doors. Is this how the car is built or is something wrong? Also, am I the only one who finds the placement of the rear door lock ***** unreachable from the front seats?......and I'm 6'5"

Both rear ones don't work?

Did they work and both quit ot once?

Or did one stop and then the other later?

Chances are the door locks are bad.
They are known to go bad.

I have the same problem on my '98, good the problem is the locks themselves, not some electric module in a remote part of the car..

Not yet.. :-) But I did a research on that subject, apparently, as Tech said, replacing the door locks assembly does the trick..

I have the same car with same problem except on both the passenger side front and rear door. They both can be locked but not open with the power switch. Could they both have bad latches at the same time? Any feedback will be appreciated.

On the back doors, could it be some sort of child safety thing that's pushed down, disabling the doors from opening?

On my 1998 V70 my passenger side front door won't open with the remote key of from the All Open button. Any idea how much that will run me?

Tech, you are right! I bought a used door lock assembly and follow the instruction link posted by elbert and successfully replaced the rear one, now I am looking one for the front passenger side. Thanks for all your help. Saved me a lot of money. One small plastic notch broken inside the assembly. To repair one door, dealer charge $350, independent shop asking for $240. OEM parts on internet $120. Used one I got on eBay $60.
