Default Reset check engine light?

I have a 99 S70. I'd like to reset my check engine light. I don't want to buy a scanner. I've read a couple different ways online and am still not sure how to do it. Disconnect the battery, wait 30 minutes, put the key in the II position and then reconnect the battery? Or something about holding the odometer button for a couple seconds?

I would appreciate any definitive input from someone. Thank you!

Try not to get the CEL light confused with the Service Required or ABS light. You NEED a scanner. Try to barrow one from one of your local auto parts store.

Why is the light on? What are your codes?

Key off. Disconnect the negative battery for around 30 seconds, then connect it back, properly you won't have the light. But the ECM got to relearn.

What year models does that work for?

I had a new ABS unit put in, so I need to reset it. I'd rather not pay a shop to do it if it's something I can do.
