My 1998 Volvo S70 T5 automatic transmission seems to be having problems up-shifting while accelerating. There are no codes being reported, but the RPMs will just climb and I have to let off the gas for a quick second to help it shift to the next higher gear. This began happening a year ago, but would get better as the engine warmed up. Now it is constant. Any advise would be greatly appreceated. I am quite mechanically capable, but need to be confident in the cause before I dive into potentially unnessary repairs. Thanks!!!

 

Changing the transmission fluid (I do a series of typically three drain and fills until it is a nice clear red) will usually help smooth out shifts tremendously. You can get a full flush done but, depending on how many miles you have on the car and when if ever the transmission was last serviced, it can cause seal leaks.
