S70 Total Car Repainting...advice/estimates
Hi everyone,
1st day on Volvo Forums and really enjoying all of the knowledge sharing. Here in Denver, CO and wondering 2 things:
1) Have any of you ever repainted your Volvo S70 and if so what did it cost?
2) I have heard mixed-poor reviews on MAACO (nationwide) and wondering what type of shop you used to select the body repainting.
Thanks so much...

Hi Stewart, welcome to the site.
I don't think it matters much about what you do to paint an old car. It will look so good people will likely compliment you on it.
I would ask people that got their cars painted. After a wreck or just painted. You can go by any shop and look at cars that are leaving the shop. The things to look for is orange peal, dirt in the paint, over spray and if they painted over trim or not.
Branded shops like Maaco have to use certain paints. I had a Honda Accord painted there and was real pleased with the results and how well the paint held up later. I do hand wash my cars and that really does make a difference. I think they will do that some job for something like $600. A shop that recently painted a 960 for me (painted about 1/2 of it) charged about $1,200. If you go same color you can likely have it done at a real good shop for about $1,800 if you go with the same color. If the clear coat is pealing, they may charge a little more for prep work. They will have to get it smoothed out before painting.
