Recheck all electrical connections.
Sounds like a bad ground or shorted wire somewhere.

Yeah, could also be a sticky starter relay. Did you disconnect neg battery cable durring your car maintenence? I hope something didn't damage ECM. That or a bad ignition switch, is also a possiblity. You could try pulling ignition fuse, see if it still tries to start, that might help isolate your problem.
