Default serpintine belt

I am finishing an engine replacement. I put the a/c compessor, altenator, power steering pump and pullys back in the car. When I went to put the belt on, it is four inches to long. I checked it with the old one(same size)and I know I am routing it corectly. I must have make a mistake putting the components together?? They all fit on the engine perfectly so I don't know how I could have made a mistake. I need a step by step maybe with pictures. HELP!!

There is 2 ways to run the belt. I cannot find the pic I had. But the difference is running around the Alt. and idler pulley. One way it goes over the idler then to the alt. The other way it goes over the alt first then around the idler.

Go to www.ipdusa.com , click on your model, find the serpentine belt page, and you should find an Installation Tool Kit. There you will find installation instructions (pdf). It will show you the right (and wrong) routing of the belt.
