Default service light reminder?

I have a '99 S70 and recently my service light started coming on only for a first few minutes after I start the car, then it shuts off. I called dealership and they say it is just a reminder but in order to reset it I would have to come to them because they have the tools. Does anyone know if this can be done without going to stealership, are there any reset buttons or anyhing?

Have you tried doing a search on this site for instructions?

Turn the key to position 1 push and hold the trip reset button while holding turn key to position 2 and watch for the service light to flash 3 times then release the trip reset button and it should be reset. To make sure turn key off then start the car and make sure the light is off. Good luck

Tried it, it flashed 6 times and it still stays on. My friend hooked it up to an obd2 and it's got pending code-p0532 "A/C Refrigerant Pressure Sensor A Circuit Low Input". Is this common?

Release it after the thrid flash or it will not reset.Clear the a/c code and see if it comes back.It could be a couple of diffrent things. But the fault might not be present at this time.So clear the code and see what happens.

Still can't get it to flash three times. Our ignition assembly no longer "clicks" at different positions, so I suspect I am not getting position 1 quite right. Didn't replace the ignition assembly for 500 some odd dollars, I told my girlfreind not to hand a bunch of stuff off her key chain[:@]. I reread the above method, and I'll try it til I get it right...anyone else had ignition switch problems?

It should only be the electrical part of the switch that is bad.Should only take you about 20 to 30 min to replace.

Electrically, it works fine. Its the mechanical "clicks" that do not give you a positive feel for what position the key is in. Use to have a positive stop at the three different positions.

I understand that the feeling you are talking about it is built into the electrical part of the switch.

No it will not work for the 98 S70 they need a service light reset tool to clear the light.

I did a search online for a Service Light Reset Tool for the 1998 Volvo S70 and found the 69007 - EXPERT QUALITY SERVIC INDICATOR TOOL - VOLVO from a Draper Tools (a UK manufacturer). This web site has the info and a link to the manual: http://www.drapertools.com/draper/Te...MainScreen.asp Do a search for Volvo and it will take you to the Reset Tool.

Do you think that this would work? There are several UK companies that are selling this tool. With the current conversion rate, it is approx $60 plus shipping. I contacted several companies to get a shipping quote.

Yes that will work and is for a very good price.I would buy it and then if you ever sell your car then you can sell the tool and make some of your money back.
