what year is you car? the later ones, you can reset it by pressing the trip reset botton 1 sec. after key position II, but you have to press for a length of time.

In Europe if your car is pre 98 you have to have that done at the dealers, there's no way you can reset it without the tools, as far as i know anyway.

hope this helps

You need a special ODB-II unit to turn off the Service light. Mine is on, but since it goes out after about 2 minutes it doesn't really bother me.

yes so you would need a speical tool to reset the light, but really to be honest it doesn't really mean much, as long as you know your car is fine, then it is!

You turn it off and it will come back on in 5,000 miles. It tells you to take your car to the dealer so they can rip you off for an oil change and turn the light out for you. I had mine in for something else one time and asked them to turn the light out while they had it and the said only if we change the oil. I spent over $200 and they would not reset the light. I have not gone back to them since.

really? that's so bad, you did the right thing not going back, i got hold of some self run volvo specialist who did it for me when i popped in one day to ask a couple of questions, but i yes you are right, the purpose of that light is so they could rip you off!

It won't unless you remove the bulb. Which isn't a bad idea.

My 98 s70 turbo is doing the same thing. Is there any other reason this light may come on? Could you tell me more about this? Will it work for mine, or do I need the "special tool"? Thanks.
