Default Should I buy this S70 GLT?

Hey all, new here.

I am looking to buy a daily driver and found an S70 GLT Auto Green on tan with moonroof and memory seats.
The good:
-109,000 mi
-Nice exterior
-Inside is nice- Typical Volvo Leather issues, no tears, but cracks.
-Everything works electronically
-Shifts nicely and motor seems strong

The Bad:
1. Missing- seems like a bad plug or coil (do they have coils?)
2. Bad upper motor-mount (easy repair? Looks it)
3. Needs Tires
4. AC compressor cycles on and off (I was told the compressor was replaced) Blows warm
5. Oil leak... no idea where from. Seems like from the front. Where do they usually leak from?
6. May need front brake pads (any different than others?)

I can turn a wrench... Shade-tree mechanic... I know my way around automobiles.

They are asking $1,000. Should I do it? Why or why not? Thanks guys!

Are you that insecure of your decision making?

Man, these cars are like very pretty girls, HIGH MAINTENANCE. Go find yourself an ugly fat Japanese chick with a good job.

Let's look at the issues:

1. Missing, what year is it? The '98's have wires and distributor, the '99's and '00 have coils. Other than that, it could be a number of things but I would do a compression test.

4. AC compressor, if it was changed, why doesn't it work? If it works serviced, it likely has a bad evaporator. Lot of work but it can be done under a shade tree.

The rest is simply expense. If the car has good compression go for it. She'll make you proud even though the bitch will complain a lot.

You should also read the 850 buyers guide in the 850 DIY thread.

That's not much $$ but you didn't say what MY (model year)??

The 1998 MY was quite different from the later years...

+ what rspi said!

I guess that would have been helpful. It is a 2000. Going to do a compression test and scan the codes today.

I'm surprised it's not sold yet. Cheap used cars sell real fast this time of the year with college students getting their cash.

If compression is good then it's possibly worth that. '99 MY and later had more complex fuel injection system making it more difficult to diagnose and expensive to repair. Also went to ETM (electronic throttle module) which you'll eventually need to replace with xemodex part for about $500.

Yes, in '99 they went to individual ignition coils too; common failure point. And transmissions from '99 thru 2003 or so seem to have higher than normal failure rates.

If you don't mind working on the car yourself, and knowing all of above doesn't bother you, then go for it.
