Hitch install
I installed a hitch on my 2003 C 70 3 weeks ago. Also to pull a wave runner. The car looks just like yours. The hitch was brand new but I had to drill (enlarge) 1 hole during install. I think the these hitches are jig welded to fit a brand new car frame. My car has 80,000 miles and I think over time the car frame gets tweeked over time. The hole was really close but the bolt just would not fit. I needed to loosen 2 lower bolts to get a wench to fit to tighten the mount bolts . Some people here say that their car has preinstalled nuts for a hitch but mine did not.
wires... there are many post about wiring. I am not a expert !!!! from what I found on the internet about Volvos is our cars use 2 bulbs...one for a brake light and the other is a tail light/blinker. Most trailers have one bulb with these two lights in it. That is why a converter is used. From my reseach it depends on how many AMPS the trailer lights draw. If you go to trailer sites these converters are rated by amps. Most require that you run a wire to the battery to draw power. The rest of the wires are a simple brake/stop/trail light hook up. I found a converter from Hoppy # 38925 that did not require a battery wire and I do not get a light on the dash saying I have a bulb problem. Our w/r trailers do not draw much power ( I think)??
I have used the trailer with no lighting problems..if you have questions ask. I DO unplug the trailer before it goes into the water.
