Transmission normal RPM speeds
To make it concise, i have a S70 base auto, when traveling close to 70mpg on highway, my RPMs are close to 3k. I am just afraid to travel faster with this car at about 75-85. is that normaol rpm speeds on these cars? Another question, when i am about to come to a stop, the RPM's bounce from 1.5k to 800 rpm's..

I think "lock up" means that the tranny stays in it's gear as you slow down a bit. Example, my tranny usually shifts into 3rd at around 37 mph then into 4th at 54 mph. But if I slow down to 45 mph it will stay in 4th. It locks into 4th unless I slow down to something like 40 or hit the gas causing it to "kick-down".
I don't remember what they call it when the car downshifts when you're going down a steep hill. Sometimes when I'm going 60 mph and going down a steep hill my car will downshift by itself and then shift back into 4th when I put my foot in the gas pedal.
