Default Trunk ajar light won't go off

My trunk ajar light came on along with the chime. I have verified that the trunk is closed and latched but the light won't turn off. Ignoring lights is not so bad but the chime dinging away is driving me nuts. Any thoughts?

I checked all of the connections and noticed my trunk light did not work. When I disconnected it at the modular plug, all was well. How important is a trunk light that it has to chime away until I change the bulb?!

I spoke too soon. The chime is back but the indicator light is off. I'm about ready to kill the chime.

Another person just had a problem with their wagon. They had a broken wire in the harness. My guess is that you have a bad latch.

I didn't notice until lunch today that none of the interior lights worked either. Turns out the fuse (#15 I think) was bad. It's my wife's car and she hadn't mention that. What's weird is that now the lights work, no chime and no door ajar symbol but the trunk release button doesn't work now. It worked yesterday. The key switch works and the switch on the driver's door works. I guess I just chased the gremlin to something else

Update. My wife was fiddling with the overhead map light cover because it was loose and the fuse blew again. I took the panel off and one of the map lights had broken away from the plastic panel. Too bad they can't make the plastic parts last as long as the motors!. It was shorting out on the sunroof motor. I glued the light holder down, covered the motor with electrical tape and re-installed the panel. I know it is a short term fix but it was free.
