Default V70 2.4 exhaust port

I just bought a 99 v70 glt with a burnt valve, but my question is about the exhaust ports on the head. there is a big hump on the bottom that appears to go to nothing, can i do a port match on this without hitting anything? volvo normally does things for a reason but not always ones that make sense. i'm not looking to add much power to it but if it flows better it goes better. also i know on the l6's the n/a cams on a turbo make more power is there any thing like that on the 5's? any thoughts?
