My 1999 volvo s70 runs rough at idle when I am stopped at a light. It feels like a misfire or hiccup but not all the time. The check engine light is not on. The first mechanic did a complete tuneup and changed 1 ignition coil. It got a little better but did not completely fix the problem. I went back and they changed another coil -- this still did not fix the problem. Does anyone have an idea of what the problem is? Do I need to replace all the coils? Is it hard to replace them? A friend asked me if there is a distributor cap on a volvo that my be cracked?

 

Clean your maf and throtle body maybe it will get better.

 

I am experiencing a simular problem. idle bounces about three notches on the rev counter every 2 - 3 secs. let me know if you find a fix for this problem

Bad coils should pop a cel. My guess would be a vacuum leak somewhere. Check around the idle valve first.
