1998 model year was the first for it. They were made in 97 and marketed as a 98.

Oh yeah, that's a great link. I never knew the S70 looked just like a P2 V70...[sm=lame.gif]

Some of that information may be for all Volvo S70 models produced during the 3 year model run but several of those listed were never imported to the U.S. namely the GL and the R. Start of manufacture for the S70 supposedly occurred in Europe in early 1997 and the S70 was actually a 97 model in Europe (and possibly for export models not headed to North America). Since you're in Hong Kong it may be quite possible that you have a 1997 model S70.

In the U.S. the first S70 model year was 98. I have heard stories that some U.S. customers actually were delivered cars much earlier in 1997 but that doesn't jive with my experience. The 97 850 was imported into the U.S. as late as June 1997. The books didn't open for U.S. customers to order a 98 S70 until August 97 which is when I ordered my car from the factory. So, obviously it's not unusual to find model year 98 S70's with dates of manufacture in 1997....

Now there's the pot calling the kettle black..... Blah, blah, blah, yourself.... So, the sales manager at my local Volvo dealer was lying to me back in early August 1997 when he told me I had to wait a couple of weeks for the Volvo 'order book' to be open before I could order my car from the factory? In late July of that year they had not one single 98 S/V70 on the lot to test drive, had to try out an 850 turbo wagon....
