window motors
I just bought a used 98 S70 with a few problems. One of the main ones is that the drivers window along with the rear driver and passenger windows do not roll down. Not sure if it is just a bad motor on all of them or not. If so how hard are they to replace?
More than likely it's the switch unit in the drivers door. They get wet from time to time from the rain when you open the window. Also, they get a type of carbon build up on the contacts and that stops them from working. Get a new unit from FCP or IPD and you should be good to go.
You should test the power going to and from the switch to see if there is power going to the other windows, if there is check between the door and body of the car on the driver's side to see if there's a broken or a frayed wire inside of the door
You may also want to test the lead to the window motor with a test light to see if it's getting power to it.
If it is then chances are you would need a new window motor.
Here's a video that will show you how to remove the driver's side door panel, if you need to get in there. Hope this helps you out.

One more thing Tony, I just noticed that my battery is not staying charged. I assume it may be the alternator or the battery is bad. If it is the alternator, how hard is that to change out. I think I located it and it looks like I have to mover the power steering reservoir to get to it. Is this true or am I totally off?
Thanks in advance, Postman.
