Default '08 S80 Headlight Lens

I have two very cloudy headlight lenses on my '08 S80. I've done a lot of searching and I can find a replacement lens on Ebay that is supposedly for '07 to '16.

1. Does anyone definitively know if Volvo used the same lens for '07 to '16?

2. Does anyone have the steps to change the lens? I have them out on the bench. There are locking tabs, but when I try to pry them apart, the lens still won't budge. Maybe they are glued in??

3. I read in the archives to put the assembly in the oven at 150 degrees. Has anyone tried that?

Thanks in advance.

I have a 2008 S80, which was the first year for a new body style so It may not fit a 2007 replacement lens. My lenses glazed over, so i tried an auto store polish that did very little good. and then paid for them to be sanded (?) down and polished which cleared them up for a couple year, and then the problem came back. I dont know anything about baking them in an oven, but I woul db e reluctant, and figure i will get some fine sandpaper and get to gently sanding them down next time myself.

Thank you for the reply. Just to clarify, what I meant about heating in the over at 150 degrees is to put the whole headlight assembly in the oven and heat it in order to get the adhesive to soften up. The theory is that once the adhesive softens, I would be able to pry the old clear covers off the assemblies. Then it's a matter of getting just the clear covers and installing them. The covers are much cheaper than the whole assembly.

I appreciate your explanation about what you've done to try and clean the plastic covers.

Anyone else have any insight into the covers?

Thanks,
John

I recently attempted to sand and clear up my headlights as they fogged up again. They are still hazy as I over sanded and am endlessly polishing them to a clear finish. Now I wish I would have rather just paid the money for someone to do it for the time I have on this.

I've tried several polishing kits as well as the "WD-40" trick. They all work well for a while, but within a year, they cloud up again. I bit the bullet and bought the entire headlight assembly because I can't find just the replacement cover.

Now if only there's some way to fix the door panels from delaminating......
