2001 S80 2.9 wont crank
Looking for any advice or help. Car has 212,000 miles. Drivers side headlight burnt out, low beam. Had them both replaced. Drove home. Day and a half later car is dead and wont start. Installed a new battery. It tries to turn over but wont. Been told by someone that I have no fuel pressure so probably the fuel pump now? How do I know if it is the pump or the injectors? Anyone have a clue as to why new headlights, low beam, killed the battery? Car was running perfect til I replaced the headlights. Any help or advice is appreciated, thanks in advance.
its possible your alternator failed and you may have a burnt relay that is staying on. You can measure fuel pressure at the rail (should be a shraeder valve to attach a gauge to). Another thing to try is to jumper the fuel pump relay ( a worn fuel pump can fry that relay) to see if that gets the pump going (you should hear it kick on). Injectors generally don't fail or fail all at once. Not sure about your car but there also may be an injector relay to check out (on the 850s/V70s its up front by the radiator) so google around or see if the owners manual shows it. Did you notice anything else happen leading up to the lights going out?
I did not notice anything else happening before the low beam head light went out on the drivers side. It was running perfectly. No issues starting, wasnt sluggish, didnt have a misfire or anything. Just replaced the low beam lamps and it wouldnt start after that.
