Default 2001 Volvo s80 crank no start

Hey Volvo owners, a couple months ago I was driving my 01 s80 and noticed it gradually started losing power. I pulled into a gas station and got it towed to a mechanic. The mechanic said that my throttle body wasn’t receiving any volts. So I got it towed home and I replaced the throttle body my self with one from eBay. The seller said it was plug and play. I also changed fuel injectors, spark plugs, and ignition coils. But when I try to start it up, it just keeps cranking over with no start. I can hear the fuel pump humming and I’ve checked the schrader valve on my fuel rail and i definitely have fuel pressure. I’ve also used a spark tester and I have spark in all my plugs/coils. I’m thinking my alternator may be shot from a coolant leak leaking on top of it but I’ve also read that a bad alternator can/ can not cause no start. Just looking for some tips as I’ve been working on this car non stop for a couple of weeks. Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

Your throttle body is "plug and play" (on a 2001) only if it has been "programmed" to your VIN.

Perhaps that step was not done.

A company such as xemodex.com could help you "program" your ETM to your car. (but you will have to send to ETM to them in Canada)

(please don't be considering that your alternator has a problem, it's purpose is to recharge the battery, and has nothing to do with starting the car. But yes, your alternator can make the car not start - because the battery is not recharged as you drive, It does not sound like that is your problem)

The eBay seller confirmed my VIN. and the throttle body is same year make and model, Would that still mean I need to get it reprogrammed?

Ebay? I never tried a (99-02) throttle module that was not "programmed", either new or rebuilt. (I know a new one will not work without a VIDA download) So I have no experience in "Ebay guy said it would work".

You could contact xemodex, they could tell you if it would work. What codes are stored in all the control units?
